A $1 million energy efficiency project has been completed at the New York State Office of Mental Health’s Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood, which is on Long Island.
The initiative included enhanced boiler controls, high efficiency outdoor lighting and upgrades to the air handling system, according to Innovate Long Island. The changes are projected to save $114,000 in energy costs annually and eliminated almost 500 tons of greenhouse case emissions. The center has reduced its energy use by 12 percent since 2010, the story said.
Late last year, WTNH reported that the Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown was set to undergo an energy upgrade. The upgrade will include high efficiency light, cogeneration and a solar-powered electric vehicle charging station. The project is expected to pay for itself and save $32 million over a 15-year period.
